I know this question must have been asked (and answered) a million of times, but.The more i read online the less i understand. I have some 3ds roms that i want to convert in cia to play online without worries. Now, i read that thx to a program called '3DS Simple CIA Converter' i should be able to do it, but i should create the xorpads too. For the second step, i saw that i have to install rxtools, and then with this xorpads i'll be able to create the cia with safe online play. But.i read about rxtools having his emunand, the same as the gateway (that i own) and i don't want to create some strange behaviour with my beloved flashcard. Can someone explain how to install rxtools in a safe way or how can i play online without worries with an alternative metod? Thx in advance, hope the post does not violate any rule in the forum.

WAIT, WAIT, WAIT!You both seem a little bit confused right nowFirst of all, short explanation about Xorpads:Xorpads are something like 'decryption keys' for encrypted partitions in a.3ds or.cia file. In order to convert.3ds to.cia files, you need to decrypt the contents of the.3ds file and you achieve that with xorpads. In order to convert a.3ds file, you DO need those xorpads (or you can use rxTools to decrypt the.3ds file directly; in that case rxTools 'applies those xorpads directly' to the.3ds file and saves the result). You simply cannot convert a normal.3ds file (as they are usually encrypted) to a.cia file without decrypting it somehow first. The simplest way would be to download ready-to-go.cia files from that famous ISO site on the web about the 3DS. If you use ready-to-go CIA files, you don't need rxTools at all.Furthermore, there's nothing to be afraid. As you already read, rxTools (which is a CFW) and Gateway use the same emunand. In fact, every CFW and Gateway use the same emunand partition.
You won't mess anything up with using rxTools on your console. But if you really want to avoid that, you can also use for xorpad generation or.3ds file decryption (which is what I use by the way, works fine).@escequi: Zero-key encrypted roms can be converted without Xorpads because there is no 'key' at allXorpads are what there name says: Pads (= keys) for a xor operation (exclusive or). If every bit of the key for a xor operation is zero, the input doesn't change at all, so zero-key encryption basically means unencrypted.
